Mindfulness for Youth: a Project of Joyful Mind

Jul 09, 2019 - Jul 12, 2019

joyful mindA one week program for children ages 5 – 12.  9:30 AM-1:30 PM

Equanimity.  Ecology.  Empathy.  These are the foundations of this mindfulness program for youth…

NOURISH, REST, & RESTORE

Each day, we’ll share a playful period of meditation; enjoy mindful movement, eating, and games; share nature-based projects; build attentional skills; and have the chance to practice mindfulness with friends and community in a retreat setting.

In this non-residential, “retreat-camp” for children ages 5-12, we’ll share both mindfulness and nature-based practices that can help us rest and restore after a busy school year.

We’ll use attention-building elements from the Mindful Schools curriculum and take good care of our mental health through connection with the natural world.

Parents are also welcome to attend and will have the opportunity to connect with one another while children enjoy separate programming; to discover tools for mindful parenting; and to learn about integrating mindfulness into the home.
To accommodate each family’s unique needs, parents may attend daily or come for just one nourishing day!

Content includes play-based learning, multicultural stories, cooperative games, artwork, movement, and the Mindful Schools curriculum.  Also central to this program is attunement to seasonal rhythms.
