“This is the darkest hour of the dark ages.
Disease, famine and warfare are raging like the fierce north wind.
…The jewel-like teaching of insight is fading day by day….”
With these words the Vidyadhara, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, introduces us to the Sadhana of Mahamudra, which he wrote in 1968, in response to the spiritual materialism he encountered in the West.
In the dark of the year, in the darkest of times, reciting of this Sadhana has never seemed more appropriate.
The Sadhana of Mahamudra expresses the devotional longing of a spiritual traveler seeking inspiration and insight in times of physical and spiritual materialism.
The reciting of this Sadhana is open to all practitioners with no restrictions, and is intended to take us on a journey from despair to awakening, from the “slime and muck” of the dark age to the recognition of the inseparability of student and teacher, and the origination of all phenomena. It may not be easy to understand but the experience of reciting it can be transformative!
Senior student of Shambhala, Howard Levy, has agreed to lead us in reciting the Sadhana on December 27, 6 PM, at Open Sky Retreat Space.
Please join us and RSVP to Barbara at bhirschfeld@gmail.com to get directions or any further questions you might have.
